Last updated: February 14, 2023

Bamboo Data Consulting Inc. (“Bamboo”, “we”, “our”) welcomes you to our community. Trust is one of our team’s core values. In earning trust, both within our team and with our extended community, we aim to be transparent and open. This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information. In doing so, we hope to earn and maintain your trust and continue to grow our community.

WHAT IS “PERSONAL INFORMATION”

Personal information is any information that can identify who you are. It does not include your business contact information, such as your name, title/position, business address, telephone number, or email address.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT

We collect and use your personal information under various circumstances, including to:

Provide you with our services:

We mostly collect your business information, such as your contact information to form a business relationship with you, communicate with you, and provide you with our services, which includes administrative tasks we have to undertake. This is information that you provide to us. Occasionally, our clients provide us with personal information about other individuals. We prefer not to collect that information unless it is necessary to carry out our services. Those individuals whom we indirectly collect personal information about will generally know that their personal information is collected, used and disclosed. They have the right to withdraw their consent at any time.

Communicate with you:

We will use your personal information, such as your email address or phone number to answer your questions. We may also use your contact information to communicate with you about our services, send you newsletters, which you can opt out of, and send you surveys for internal use only.

Maintain our relationship with you:

We may use your information to manage our relationship with you, such as sending you emails about information we think you will be interested in or benefit from.

Monitor traffic:

We collect the IP address of the device you use to visit our website. Although an IP address is considered “personal information”, we cannot readily identify you when we see your IP address. Our website has cookies, like most websites do, that inform us, on an aggregated level, how our website is being used, such as how many people visited our website and what pages were viewed. When we send emails through our email distributor, such as newsletter emails, we are automatically able to monitor certain activities such as how many emails were viewed, by whom, and which links you clicked on. This helps us improve our content and ensure we are sending you stuff you find totally rad. We do not share this information with anyone else, so feel free to open that newsletter and click away!

Invite you to events:

We may use your contact information to invite you to events that we think would be beneficial to you (which you can opt out of receiving). We may also use a third party tool to manage the event, in which case you may need to provide your name and email address to register. Please review the third party’s privacy notice if you choose to register.

Comply with our legal obligations:

We may use your personal information in order to comply with our legal obligations.

HOW DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We do not sell or distribute your personal information. You have entrusted us with your personal information and we want to maintain that trust.

To help us run our business, we use processors for our document management, finances, and email distribution. They may have access to some of your personal information, which they need to provide us with their service. Some of these processors are online cloud-based service providers. It is possible that your personal information may reside on servers located outside of Canada and therefore may not have the same level of protection over your personal information as we have in Canada.

Your personal information may also be shared with other third parties, with your consent, or where required by or permitted by law.

We take bot attacks seriously, and to ensure that only human beings are accessing our website, we’ve implemented reCaptcha, a technology that helps us figure out if the information entered, such as to sign up for our newsletter, is actually a human rather then a pesky, automated program. How does it work? Well, reCaptcha analyzes the behaviour of our visitors and their unique characteristics, like their IP address and how long they've been on the site! Don't worry though, we promise we're not spying on you - we're just using this information to make sure you're not a bot.

WE MUST (BUT WE ALSO WANT TO) PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Bamboo has security safeguards, including organizational, technical, and physical measures, to protect your information from unauthorized access or loss. The safeguards we implement, such as firewalls and password protection systems are in line with the sensitivity of the personal information we collect. We use role-based access rights because we believe that only those who need to know, should know. While we have taken steps to protect your information, there is no guarantee that computer systems or online communications, such as email, are secure. We encourage you to be vigilant about the information you provide to us.

Our website may contain links to other third party websites. When you click on these links, you will be directed to a website operated by another entity which may have its own privacy policy. We encourage you to read their policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.

YOU HAVE CHOICES AND RIGHTS

Withdrawing consent:

We rely on your express consent to collect, use, and disclose your personal information. However, in some instances, we rely on your implied consent based on your interactions with us, such as when you contact us with an inquiry, or when we send you newsletters or surveys.

You may also unsubscribe from our newsletters by simply clicking on the unsubscribe link. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@bamboodc.com. If you decide to unsubscribe from our newsletter, we totally get it. We promise we won't send you any more of our juicy updates or breaking news. However, to make sure we don't accidentally send you anything in the future, we'll keep your email address on our do not contact list. But if you ever change your mind and want to hear from us again, we'll be ready and waiting!

If you withdraw consent, we may not be able to provide you with a particular service if we need your personal information. If that is the case, we will let you know so you can make an informed decision.

Opting out of cookies:

You can also opt-out of cookies by resetting your browser to reject cookies. If you choose to do this, be aware that the functionality of our website and other websites you visit may be affected.

Access and correction:

We understand that your personal information is yours and we respect that. We also understand that circumstances change and so might your personal information. If you wish to have access to your personal information or correct it, please contact us at info@bamboodc.com.

Express concern:

If you have a concern about the way we handle your personal information, let us know so we can address it. If you are still concerned, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).

AS WE EVOLVE, SO MIGHT OUR PRIVACY POLICY

As Bamboo grows, its environment may evolve. We will keep you apprised of our new privacy practices by revising our Privacy Policy and posting it on our website. Be sure to check it out from time to time.
