Sophia Muller, Ph.D., CIPP/C, CIPM, FIP, is a seasoned privacy leader with over a decade of experience advising municipal, provincial, federal, and private sector organizations on complex privacy, regulatory, and data governance challenges. She is recognized for her ability to design practical, regulator-ready privacy programs that support large-scale digital transformation initiatives while balancing operational realities, innovation, and risk management.
Sophia brings extensive experience leading Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), privacy program modernization initiatives, and governance reviews across highly regulated environments, including public sector institutions (municipal, provincial and federal), Crown corporations, financial institutions, and enterprise technology implementations. Her work spans complex cloud, SaaS, analytics, AI, and enterprise platform deployments, including SAP SuccessFactors, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday, Office 365, and integrated digital service environments.
She also has deep expertise in financial services, payments infrastructure, and digital identity ecosystems. Her experience includes privacy leadership within the wealth management sector, as well as advising on large-scale payment, fraud management, and digital service initiatives involving interconnected vendor and technology environments. Her work focuses on embedding Privacy by Design principles into modern payment technologies, analytics, digital channels, and emerging technology solutions.
Sophia holds a Ph.D. in Political Studies from the University of Ottawa and maintains several leading privacy certifications, including Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
